What is HCU?
HCU stands for Hatfield Credit Union Ltd. We are a savings and loan organisation owned by the members and run entirely by volunteers.
Members save regularly, which creates a pool of money to provide loans at a fixed, affordable rate. Savings attract a dividend when the credit union is in profit.

Can anyone join HCU?
Membership is open to everyone who lives or works in the Welwyn Hatfield district. This includes areas from Woolmer Green in the north to Little Heath in the south.
How is HCU managed?
Hatfield Credit Union is a savings and loans co-operative run entirely by volunteers. It was started in September 1999 and was first registered with the Financial Services Authority in July 2001, when we opened for business serving the people of Hatfield and Welham Green. In 2003/04 the service was extended to everyone who lived and worked within the whole of the Welwyn Hatfield Borough.
